TUBULAR MUCOUS GLAND – 2
The image shows part of a small mucous tubule, surrounded by connective tissue.
Its secretory portion is shaped as a wide tubule and is made up of columnar cells with very clear limits. Their strongly stained nuclei are placed at the base of the cells, close and parallel to the basal cell membrane.
Using the mouse or clicking on the image the secretory cells become highlighted in dark blue, their nuclei in green and the lumen in light blue.
The excretory duct of this mucous tubule is constituted by cuboidal epithelial cells highlighted in brown and the lumen highlighted in yellow.
Notice some secretory product within the lumen of the tubule and of the duct.

Mucous tubule. Stain: hematoxylin and eosin. Low magnification.
